Top 10 in NYC | One Fated Knight in the Big Apple

There's nothing quite like the Big Apple. New York City is the concrete jungle where literal dreams are made. Case in point? The first plans for One Fated Knight began right there before coming home to Vancouver. Founder Jen Yau recently took a trip back to her old stomping grounds on Fashion Avenue and discovered some amazing places to eat, drink and shop in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Check out her favourite hot spots, new and old. OFK in NYC

Jen's Top 10 in NYC

1) The Essex on the Lower East Side (essexnyc.com) - "The best boozy brunch. They have a three drink limit but if you're nice your mimosas will keep coming. Love the Lobster Benedict." 2) Caffé Vita on the Lower East Side (caffevita.com) - "Best coffee I've had in the city. Full of friendly, cute, moustached and bearded staff who are passionate about coffee and make a mean macchiato." 3) Beer Authority in Midtown (beerauthoritynyc.com) - "Massive beer selection and a fun rooftop that's hidden from the streets." 4) 230 5th in Flatiron (230-fifth.com) - "There are so many great rooftops in NYC but this is one of my favourites. Great people watching and a stellar view of the Empire State Building." 5) Goorin Hats in the West Village (goorin.com) - "I'm really loving hats lately and I picked up an amazing wool outback style hat. I feel like I'm on an Indiana Jones adventure every time I wear it." 6) Pylones in SoHo (pylones-usa.com) - "This is a chain from Paris and is full of colour and novelty versions of every day things. I could spend hours here." 7) Pork Slop in Park Slope (porkslopebrooklyn.com) - "If you're a meat eater this place is a must! Pork galore and so delicious. Yummy and hearty sides like mac 'n' cheese too." 8) Dutch Boy Burger in Crown Heights (dutchboyburger.com) - "Great burgers served by a guy that I swear is Spike Jonze's doppelganger. Come during the day to enjoy the patio and stay for the party that ensues in Franklin Park at night." 9) Union Hall in Park Slope (unionhallny.com) - "So much fun playing indoor bocce and has a cozy fireplace. It feels like a distinguished library complete with velvet couches and leather armchairs." 10) Dokebi in Williamsburg (dokebibrooklyn.com) - "Super yummy Korean fare. This place rivals the authentic restos in Korea Town." Have you been to New York City? Share your favourite spots and must-sees. We'd love to check them out next time.
